DTEC Exhaust Valve Controller Rendering
Automatic exhaust valve control

DTEC Exhaust Valve Controller

Quiet when you want, aggressive when you don’t — without babysitting a switch or an app.

Automatic control

Uses RPM and WOT inputs to decide when the car should stay quiet and when it can open up — so you’re not reaching for a toggle mid-drive.

Dial in loudness

DTEC step, proportional ramp, manual 0–100% control, cold start, or WOT-only. You decide how the exhaust behaves instead of living with a fixed cutout.

Built for real hardware

Inputs for RPM and a WOT switch, plus selectable 12 V or 24 V outputs to drive exhaust valves with a compact controller.

Control modes

DTEC — single-RPM activation with a VTEC-style sound step.
DTEC opens the valve fully the moment the engine crosses a user-selected RPM point. Below that RPM, the system keeps the exhaust quiet and controlled. Cross the threshold and the tone changes sharply, mimicking the classic step in sound that people associate with VTEC engagement. Clean, predictable, and ideal when you want a defined “hit” in the powerband.
RPM Proportional — smooth ramp.
Set a start and end RPM. Between them, valve opening ramps smoothly from nearly closed to mostly open, so volume builds with revs instead of feeling like a switch.
Direct Loudness Control — 0 to 100%.
Use the knob to choose exactly how far the valve opens, from fully closed to fully open. 10%, 40%, 70%, 100% — set the volume you want and leave it there.
WOT Trigger — full open only at wide-open throttle.
Connect a WOT switch and let your right foot control the noise. Any time you’re at WOT, the valve goes 100% open. As soon as you lift, it returns to your quieter baseline behavior.
Cold Start — controlled startup bark.
For those who love that air-ripping first start on a cold morning — with just a touch more, in case the neighbors appreciate it too. At key-on the valve opens fully, holds briefly, then tapers down over roughly ten seconds before handing control back to your selected mode.
Approximate loudness behavior
Available modes: DTEC (single RPM, VTEC-style step) • RPM Proportional • Direct Loudness Control • WOT Trigger • Cold Start.

Installs cleanly

Cabin-mounted controller with short wiring runs and no ECU flashing. Designed to integrate into existing exhaust valve or cutout setups without a full rewire.

  • Drives 12 V or 24 V valves and relays
  • Inputs for RPM signal and WOT switch
  • Knob with built-in button for all adjustments
  • Standalone controller, no app required

Electronics that make sense

Built as a small dedicated controller, not a generic hobby board. Hardware and firmware focused on exhaust valve control only.

  • Reverse and transient voltage protection
  • PWM valve control for smoother opening and closing
  • Non-volatile memory saves all settings
  • Designed around automotive use, not bench demos
